About

Rowan, owner of Curious Studio

Hi, I'm Rowan.

I am a clothes maker, pattern cutter and artist with 30 years’ experience in fashion, art and teaching. I have worked across multiple sectors of the fashion industry, and as a sculptor and artist, in a variety of settings, and have taught both sewing and art to children, young people and adults.

My working life has largely centred around supporting the creative vision of others, which has been fun, varied, and an invaluable source of skills. Curious Studio is where I finally get to play and experiment with my own creative practice. A real-time exploration into living a life which is unstructured, precarious and free.

My creative approach is shaped by a deep understanding of neurodivergence, especially autism and communication differences. This awareness informs both my creativity and the contribution I want to make in the world. Through immersive exploratory art, functional objects, interactive spaces, and writing, my unfolding work explores how different minds experience the world and how greater understanding can be built between them.

I am open to commissions, collaborations, experimental ways of working, or simply connection.
